Catherine found a love of the game when she was young having played in High School. Her love grew after living in Australia and being able to watch rugby all the time! When her son was 4 (10 years ago), he started playing for the Hornets and she started coaching the U7 team.
Since that time, she has spent four terms on the club executive as the VP of Juniors, Hornets Vice President and President and in 2023 has taken on the new role of VP of Youth. A position that focuses on the U16 and U18 programs.
Her true passion in coaching young women, since her start in 2012 she has progressed to coach the U13, U15 and U17 club programs, winning city and provincial titles at each level. She has also coached Mavericks 7’s winning the provincial title and taken 2 teams to the Alberta summer games beating out Calgary teams to qualify.
Catherine has also been awarded the Rugby Canada female coach of the year for the 2019 season, when her U17 team won the provincial title. With an incredible season points for 400 and 45 points against!
